Piazza San Lorenzo is located in the heart of Florence, is one of the most typical of the city, in this square is organized a market every day of the week, except holidays. At the center of the square is the Church of San Lorenzo, that is one of the largest churches in Florence.
The Church of San Lorenzo was designed by the architect Filippo Brunelleschi´s, that was also author of the magnificent dome of the Cathedral (Duomo) in Florence. The Basilica of San Lorenzo was made between 1422 and 1470. The piece was commissioned by Brunelleschi to the Medici family and was finished by Antonio Manetti due to the death of Brunelleschi in 1446.
