Around the courtyard we can see the various barracks and buildings (originally they were separated to prevent the spread of any fires) and was the meeting point of the troops and the ideal scenario where did all kinds of ceremonies and events military and civilian character. Originally a dirt floor was paved in the restoration which took place in 1968, it was decided to put in the geometric center of the fortification a sculpture of Philip II, king who built the citadel. The carving was sculpted by sculptor Ramon Casadevall while serving his military service.
